Some Mayo For the Mavericks The Dallas Mavericks and free agent, O.J. Mayo have come to an agreement on a one-year deal with a player option for the second year that will bring Mayo to Dallas. Mayo has averaged 15.2 points a game for his career, but has been slowed down by his reduced bench role on the Grizzles. He will be eager to show his full arsenal in Dallas and definitely has the potential to blossom into a star down in Texas.
Mayo tweeted, ”I will be signing with dallas! #Mavsnation.” Not long after, Mavs owner Mark Cuban tweeted: “Welcome to the family OJ. We are fired up !! MFFL Mavs/Mayo Fan For Life.”
Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson have quickly turned around a disastrous offseason in which he lost pretty much every key piece to the championship team from two years ago besides Dirk, into a team that can definitely compete for a playoff spot this year with young and up and coming point guard, Darren Collison, veteran big men, Chris Kaman and Elton Brand as well as Dahntay Jones. On top of all these signings, he has also managed to save a lot of cap space for next years free agency period where they plan to go after some big name players.
BLOOPER OF THE DAY It seems that Dallas Mavericks shooting guard, Delonte West, athletic talents did not roll over into baseball as he may win the award for the worst throw from the outfield anyone has ever seen. Let’s just hope for everyone’s sake now he doesn’t pull a Michael Jordan and actually start playing for real. Hopefully will only see you on the basketball court next year Mr. West.
On His Way Back Brandon Roy was a fan favorite before he unfortunately had to retire early due to some injury problems. Although he has worked hard this year to try and get back to his old ways and now it seems to be paying off as four good teams are calling for his services as sources have said that the Bulls, Mavericks, T’wolves, and Pacers are all gunning for his services.
He’s back….
June 12th 2011: On This Day in Sports History… The Dallas Mavericks overcome a poor first half by Dirk Nowitzki to shock the world and defeat the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the NBA finals. This was an historic win for the Mavs as it was their first Championship in franchise history and first one for Dirk Nowitzki. I’m sure all Heat haters are hoping for the same result for Miami as the 2012 NBA finals begin tonight.
