Bear Market Star running back Matt Forte finally got his pay day today. After basically two years of fighting Bears management, Matt Forte finally got the money he deserved. As a second round pick out of Tulan he was vastly underpaid, so its nice to see him receive the healthy four year 32 million dollar contract. Now that he is under contract, Bears fans can start to feel optimistic for this upcoming season. They have their usual strong Bears Defense and with the additions of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, and the return of a healthy Jay Cutler, their offense should improve.

LeGrand Moment One of the great moments last night at the 2012 ESPY’s had to be Eric LeGrand receiving the Jimmy V Award. His speech really changed the whole dynamic of the night and his story is one that is well known through the sports community. From the injury to his rehab to being a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, this is one of the great stories in sports and his speech was just the icing on the cake.

Trouble in Texas Adrian Peterson first made a name for himself  bulldozing through defenses of the various Texas schools throughout his career at Oklahoma. This time, his stay in Texas was a little more difficult.  Peterson was arrested early in the morning of July 7th for resisting arrest in a Night Club in Houston. He allegedly refused to leave and was aggressive with officers. However now, AP is on a full-court media press saying that he was the victim of indecent behavior by the officers. Now that he has hired big-time lawyer Rusty Hardin, famous for getting a clearly guilty Roger Clemens off for perjury, it is clear that Peterson means business.

Leavin’ Town? Percy Harvin’s frustration has reached a new level with the Minnesota Vikings Organization as he has formally requested a trade as believes there is no making amends and it is time for a fresh start in a new place for his career. When head coach, Leslie Frazier was asked about the situation, he had this to say, “I really feel like when he and I sit down and talk in depth, whatever is in his heart or on is mind, we’ll get through it.” Frazier was pretty adamant that Harvin will be in a Vikings jersey next year so this should make for an interesting turn of events in the next few days as to how this organization will handle the situation as well as how Harvin will conduct himself through this time. More to come.

LT hangs up his cleats After a brilliant 11 year NFL Career running back Ladainian Tomlinson has decided to retire. The fifth-leading rusher of all time and the 2006 NFL MVP, LT is a surefire hall of famer and one of the most beloved players of his era. After 9 years with the organization, Tomlinson had a controversial departure from San Diego, but both sides decided to put aside their differences to do the classy thing and have LT sign a one day contract and retire as a Charger.  Tomlinson will be missed by fans and players alike.

Pacman Jones to Speak to Rookies The NFL has asked Pacman Jones to talk to rookies and warn them about his mistakes and whatnot. I think this is one of the funniest things I have ever heard, I know that in theory rookies would listen to him because he was a guy who was one of the top cornerbacks and then threw it all away. But wasn’t this guy just arrested last year for public intoxication and resisting arrest? If the NFL wants a former bad guy to give an inspiring speech, just call Ray Lewis, I mean, he’s the reason the Loyola Lacrosse team won it all…

The Ocho Has Landed Newly unemployed, Chad Ochocinco has quickly found a new team in his old home. The 34-year-old receiver worked out for his hometown team, the Miami Dolphins, and now will continue with this weeks team OTA’s. The Dolphins were extremely thin at this position after trading Brandon Marshall to the Chicago Bears and were looking to add some depth and veteran play to their paper thin receiving core. You never know how the addition of someone like Ochocinco will benefit you or hurt you but it will be interesting to see how this one plays out in South Beach.

Gronk gets paid No matter how you feel about the Patriots, everyones gotta love Gronk. The man is a party animal and probably gets the most girls in the league. Not to mention the fact that he’s a hell of a player too. Well today, even though he has two years left on his rookie deal, the Patriots signed him to a 54 million dollar contract, ensuring that Gronk will be a Pat for the rest of Tom Brady’s career.

The End is Near Chad Ochocinco was released from the New England Patriots yesterday after just 1 year with the team. The Wide Receiver had this to say on the matter, ”Thoroughly enjoyed the oppurtunity to play for the “Patriot” organization… fans were f——— wicked awesome, I wish all of you the best…,” Ochocinco tweeted.

Some wonder if this is the end to the roller coaster, wild career Ochocinco endured.

What do you think?

Did They Forget? Drew Brees is the Heart, Soul, and wait… The top talent of this team. It’s about time the Saints front office has upped the offer and attempted to get Brees back on the field. It’s rumored that the disagreement is over $2 million per year and that Drew is asking for something in the ballpark of $20 million annually. Hopefully this situation will get worked out soon because with all the suspensions and issues involved with this team, Drew’s presence has never been so vital for this teams success.

A Little More Coughlin Tom Coughlin has been given a 2 year extension with the New York Giants as a reward for winning his 2nd Super Bowl with the team in the past 5 years. The terms of the deal have not been announced by the team. Coughlin had this to say on the matter: “It has always been my belief that it is an honor and a privilege to be the head coach of the New York Giants, I’m thankful to John Mara and Steve Tisch and their families for their support and the recognition of what our players and coaches have accomplished. And I’m grateful for the working relationship Jerry Reese and I have. We’ve got a lot of work left to do.”

You have to appreciate the stability this franchise has portrayed over the past half decade and have really turned themselves into a model franchise for the rest of the NFL to learn from.

T-Fizzle? Terrell Suggs is under fire now that his Achilles Injury originally believed to be a result from his offseason conditioning appears to be from a collision during a basketball tournament.

Terrell Owens decided to fire Drew Rosenhaus yesterday…though considering that TO was just cut from the Allen Wranglers of the IFL, I doubt that his agent was the real problem, or that Rosenhaus even cares anymore

While the controversial NBA officiating has been in the spotlight recently, another story involving refs has gone under the radar. The NFL has announced that they will begin to hire replacement refs as labor talks with their own refs have broken off. At least we won’t need to listen to Ed Hochuli explain calls this season
