Beasts of the Northern Wild Hockey fans were stunned when the Minnesota Wild pulled off the feat of free agency, snagging hometown hero Zach Parise and one of the best defenseman in hockey in Ryan Suter. Needless to say, this is a huge step in the right direction for this franchise, who want to put themselves in the upper echelon of the Western Conference.

Pay Day The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to a contract with their star player, Sidney Crosby. The extension is said to be worth $104.4 Million dollars over 12 years. The deal will give most of Crosby’s money towards the beginning and the annual salary will fizzle down towards the end of the contract. Although Crosby is the best player Pittsburgh has and is arguably the best player in all of hockey, some people are a little surprised of this move after all injury filled season that Crosby went through last year with the concussions. However, at the end of the day, It’s a good team locking up it’s best player for basically the rest of his career and you can never really argue with that.

The Check Heard Around L.A. The Los Angeles Kings won their first stanley cup in the franchises 45 year history last night as L.A. hockey fans, however many there are, will finally have something to celebrate about as the long awaited drought is finally over. The Devils, Steve Bernier was ejected after an illegal check, which also resulted in a 5 minute penalty, in which the Kings capitalized and scored 3 goals in that span. They went on to win 6-1 with a dominant routine performance from playoff MVP, Jonathan Quick.

A 3 game comeback and a insane Game 7 was sounding a lot more appealing to me, but will have to settle with this, not bad to see a franchises first but I’m sure L.A. fans will be hoping for a few more.

Flame Still Burning The Devils live on to fight another day as they defeated the L.A. Kings 2-1 behind goals from team captain, Parise and defense men, Salvador. The Kings were able to salvage one goal from Willams. That was all Brodeur would let past him as he had 25 saves and the series will travel back to L.A. for Game 6 on Monday Night. Looks like we have a series.

June 7th, 1988: On this day in history… Wayne Gretzky won his 9th Hart Trophy in 10 seasons. What a crazy god damn stat wow. Enjoy this highlight tape of the best hockey player of all-time, and arguably the best athlete of all time.

Not So Fast The New Jersey Devils came up big in a win or go home situation last night vs the L.A. Kings as they won 3-1 behind goals from Elias, Henrique, Kovalchuk. The Kings were able to equalize at 1-1 with a goal from Doughty however the late surge of offense from the Devils was too much for Quick and the Kings to handle as the series lives on for another game.

This series was about to go down as one of the most unexciting Stanley Cup’s of all time, so hopefully the Devils can start a winning streak and add some spice to this series so that we all want to watch again.

The L.A. Kings deliver a dominating performance at Staples Center last night as they blew out the New Jersey Devils 4-0 behind goals from Martinez, Kopitar, Carter, and Williams and a fantastic showing from Quick in net, has them one win from their first ever Stanley Cup Trophy.

The New Jersey Devils have put themselves in a massive whole as Carter nets the Overtime winner to send the L.A. Kings back home up 2-0 with a chance to close the series out in Los Angeles.

The Rangers run out of steam late in the third period as the Devils came into the garden to take a pivotal Game 5 and head back to NJ with an opportunity to head to the Stanley Cup.
